One Pride, Second Pride

It’s time for a second pride weekend in Belgium this year. After Brussels in May, this one takes place in Antwerp with a new route for the parade.

50 years after Stonewall, there’s still enough to celebrate and fight for. At the same time, newspaper columns openly question the need for a Pride and whether we shouldn’t rather settle and be happy with our achievements. There are still many issues to tackle in today’s society. Those words were written by Bart Abeel, Chairman Antwerp Pride, in his message to invite us to join the event.

This year the parade will have a completely new route with more than 60 delegations including #BEsneax for the very first time. It starts from “Sint-Jansplein” following the river to the “Gedempte Zuiderdokken” where the parade had started during the last years. The different fetish clubs will follow the truck of Mister B (number 16). It’s become a tradition for many years. The meeting is scheduled around 13:30.

The new arrival area is also the place where you could have fun with national and international artists on 2 stages during 2 afternoons. As each year, the organization of the Pride has tried to offer a very various program that could be liked by the most people.

Of course, the local actors of the gay scene have also added lots of activities in the program of the weekend. During the whole weekend, both Antwerps cruising clubs (The Boots & The Kinky’s) have enlarge their timetables to host the hottest men in town. Check the websites for further details.
